Bent neck bongs angle the mouthpiece away from the heat source and help interrupt splashback before it reaches your lips. They are especially comfortable on taller pieces, where the curve creates a more natural seated posture.
The curved neck changes ergonomics more than filtration: it moves your face away from the bowl and gives rising water droplets another surface to hit. Filtration still comes from the downstem and any percolators below.
Compare overall height, bend angle, base stability, percolator style, and joint size. A pronounced bend is useful on a tall tabletop piece; a gentle bend keeps a compact bong easy to store.
Drain the neck fully after rinsing so water does not sit around the bend. Alcohol and coarse salt can reach most curves, while a flexible brush helps with tight necks and splash guards.
Check the 10mm, 14mm, or 18mm joint size, bowl inclusion, total height, and cabinet clearance. The mouthpiece angle can add horizontal depth even when the listed height is unchanged.
