Straight tube bongs use a direct vertical chamber for fast-clearing, responsive pulls. Their simple silhouette makes water level easy to see and puts the emphasis on glass quality, downstem function, and any percolator inside.
Compared with a beaker, a straight tube has less base volume and clears more immediately. It is typically lighter and easier to rinse, though the narrower base can be less forgiving on a busy table.
Compare base diameter, tube height, glass thickness, downstem angle, and splash protection. For daily use, a simple removable downstem often beats a crowded stack of difficult-to-clean percs.
Rinse the open tube after each session and clean the downstem separately. Keep one hand under the base when moving it, since the tall narrow form is easier to tip than a beaker.
Check cabinet height, base stability, joint size, and whether the bowl sits at a comfortable angle. Taller tubes may need a dedicated shelf or padded case.
